Aluminum is one of the most sustainable materials in the world, as it can be recycled indefinitely. Because of this infinite recyclability, aluminum offers both environmental and economic benefits, surpassing those of other metals, including steel.
We manufacture with only recycled aluminum.
Our Rigid Aluminum Conduit and BLUE LIGHTNING Aluminum EMT are produced using only recycled aluminum. Recycling aluminum saves about 95% of the energy required to produce new aluminum from raw materials – compared to 60-70% energy savings when recycling steel. This gives aluminum conduit products a greater environmental impact than galvanized steel conduit.
100% recyclable, for maximum sustainability.
At the end of a building’s life, 100% of the aluminum used in its construction can – and most likely will – be recycled. The lighter weight of aluminum makes it easier to recover than other metals, and its high monetary value makes removal cost effective. As of October 2025, the price of aluminum conduit and EMT scrap made by Penn Aluminum (6063 extruded aluminum) was $0.83 per pound, compared to just $0.05 – $0.08 per pound for scrap steel.*

Even aluminum jobsite scrap is recycled.
For the same reasons listed above, scrap aluminum conduit and EMT rarely ends up in a landfill. Recycling centers readily accept these aluminum products along with aluminum siding, beverage cans and other items – and pay a rate that can quickly add up. As a result, contractors will not leave scrap aluminum on the jobsite or throw it in a dumpster, which can often happen with steel conduit.
Environmental Product Declarations.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized, third-party verified document that provides transparent, quantitative information about a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life. EPDs are based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and follow international standards like ISO 14025, enabling consumers, designers, and governments to make informed, sustainable choices and compare products with similar functions. Click below to view our EPDs for both our Rigid Aluminum Conduit and our BLUE LIGHTNING Aluminum EMT.

Declare Labels.
The International Living Future Institute’s Declare program aims to drive transparency and material health in the construction industry. A Declare Label, often referred to as the “nutrition label” for building products, provides clear and concise information about the “ingredients” that go into making a product. As part of our commitment to sustainability and transparency, we’re proud to make Declare Labels available for both our Rigid Aluminum Conduit and our BLUE LIGHTNING Aluminum EMT (see links below and at right).
